‘Ben Murray-Bruce Lied About Being Barred From Greeting Buhari’ – Senate Chief Whip

Senator Olusola Adeyeye, the chief whip of the upper chamber of the National Assembly has described as false claims by Senator Ben Murray-Bruce that he was barred from greeting President Muhammadu Buhari at a state dinner on Monday.

Murray-Bruce had alleged that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) blocked him from greeting the president but allowed another Senator to do so, hinting that he was stopped because of his open criticism of the president.

Senator Adeyeye however debunked the claims by the Bayelsa East senator.

Adeyeye stated that Senator Dino Melaye, a member of the c who has however been known to criticize President Buhari loudly, was the first to approach the president’s table.

Melaye was said to have exchanged pleasantries with the president and other dignitaries at his table, which spurred other senators to do same.

According to the chief whip, the security officials were forced to bar senators from approaching the president’s table as a result of the rowdy atmosphere created when lawmakers began to approach the table from all sides.

Senator Barnabas Gemade, a senior member of the APC was the first senator to be turned back and was visibly embarrassed.

All the lawmakers were however allowed to approach the president’s table at the end of the dinner and not a single one was stopped, according to Senator Adeyeye.
