Premier League champions Leicester City are on the verge of completing a record-breaking $21 million (18.8 million euros) deal for Nigerian attacker Ahmed Musa from Russian champions CSKA Moscow, Sports Vanguard reports.

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri is a big admirer of the pacy Nigerian, and has already had two bids turned down by his Russian club.

After their memorable 5000-1 Premier League triumph last season, the Foxes have captured former France Under-21 midfielder Nampalys Mendy from Nice on a four-year deal as they look to bolster their squad for a title defence and a tilt at the glamorous Uefa Champions League.

Musa, 23, who famously scored a brace for Nigeria in a 3-2 defeat against Argentina in the 2014 World Cup finals, will be putting pen to paper on a five-year deal that will keep him at the club till 2022.

“He’ll be leaving Tuesday,” CSKA coach Leonid Slutsky told Russian media on Musa’s departure.

“And if you look at the way things are done over there you’ll see he is a player just made for English football,” Slutsky said.

Musa joined the Russian giants in 2012 and has scored 53 goals in 161 appearances.
