Mayweather to Auction £3.6million Supercar as Tax Storm Thickens

Boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr is reportedly auctioning his £3.6million Koenigsegg Trevita in a bid to raise funds to clear his tax bill.

Famous for his lavish lifestyle, ‘Money’ Mayweather is now set to sell the 2010 Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita at this year’s Pebble Beach Auction in Monterey between August 16-19th in a desperate bid to avoid the taxman’s noose.

This follows stunning revelations early this month that the five-division boxing champion owes a considerable amount of money to the IRS for back dated taxes.

Reports claim the unbeaten pound-for-pound king owes £17m in taxes dating back to 2015 – the same year he carted home a $300m loot from the so-called ‘fight of the century’ with archrival, Manny Pacquiao.

The car is part of the esteemed Ash Crest collection

He has reportedly requested an installment plan from the IRS to clear the tax bill until his mega-fight against UFC star Conor McGregor in which he is expected to earn upwards of £250m, The Sun writes.

Mayweather tried to sell the supercar in March – one of only two Koenigseggs made with the Diamond Weave exterior finish – but he received no interest in the only US-spec Koenigsegg.

The 40-year-old reportedly paid just under £3.7m for the car and has covered only 1,947 miles on the clock since its purchase in 2015.

It boasts a 4.8-litre, twin-supercharged V-8 engine that provides 1,018 horsepower – resulting in the car reaching hair-raising speeds of over 250mph (400km/h).

Looks like the ideal car for the fast lane, a pity Money has to hock it…
