Media Attacks: APC Sets Up Committee To Investigate Petition Against Dep. Spokesman

Following persistent and embarrassing media attacks on the party and the person of the National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Timi Frank, the South South Zonal Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress(APC) has set up a five man disciplinary committee to investigate the culpability or otherwise of the Deputy Spokesman.

Mr. Frank has severally confronted the National Chairman on allegations of incompetence and called for his resignation. He had also appeared in some media outfits where he alluded to the allegations that the party was in crisis. But the National Vice Chairman, south south, Ntufam Hilliard Eta said the committee was set up because of the barrage of complaints and petitions from party leaders and stakeholders concerning the vituperations of Mr. Frank.
He said the latest petition by Mr. Aniekan Akpabio, a chieftain of the party in Akwa Ibom state had warned that the frequent attacks on the party and its leaders were capable of tearing the party apart if something was not done to a check
ETA said the committee was inaugurated in accordance with Article 21.B(i) of “our party constitution”, and listed its terms of reference to include:

*To Carefully listen to all parties and investigate the culpability or otherwise of the allegations contained in the petitions.

*To make appropriate recommendations to the Zonal Executive Committee of the party.

*To present report of investigations and findings within two weeks from date of inauguration.

The South South Chairman also charged the committee to take cognizance of an item in the petition by Mr. Akpabio which alleged that Mr. Frank appeared in certain media organizations and claimed among other damaging matters that there party was in shambles as a result of a crisis. He charged the committee on fairness adding that it should do a thorough investigation.

Members of the committee include, two time member of the House of Representatives, Rt.Hon.Solomon Edoja, Chairman:Legal Practitioner and Former Member of the Board of Trustees of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party(ANPP) Barr.Tony Odey, member: Rt.Hon. Dan Akpan, member: Dr. Samuel Wilcox member and also a former House of Representatives member, Rt. Hon. Davidson Oputteh will serve as Secretary.

Responding on behalf of members after the inauguration which held at the National Secretariat on Wednesday , the committee chairman,Rt. Hon. Edoja said the committee members see the privilege of the appointment into the committee as an honour adding that they shall do a thorough job and will come out with a time tested report.

Edoja also assured that the supremacy of the party constitution will be given top priority in the course of the assignment.

The committee has two weeks to submit its report to the office of the Zonal Chairman.
