Military Spokesman retracts statement on release of Chibok girls

Spokesperson of the Nigerian Military Major. Gen Chris Olukolade has retracted his earlier confirmation that some of the abducted girls from Chibok had been released.

Olukolade confirmed to TV360 that contrary earlier reports, the girls have not been released.

The military spokesman had initially confirmed that some of the girls had been freed and had even said the exercise was ongoing.

The BBC even quoted him as confirming the release of the girls as well. But less than thirty minutes later when TV360 got in touch with him, he retracted the story saying it is not true.
Boko Haram stormed the girls’ school in the remote town of Chibok on April 14 this year, abducting over 200 of them.
