Miss SA Officials Deny Report that Current Queen was Arrested in London for Smuggling Cocaine

The organisers of the Miss South Africa beauty pageant have been forced to debunk the rumour that their beauty queen Ntandoyenkosi Kunene was arrested in London for smuggling cocaine.

The rumour was first published by Metro UK which claimed that the reigning Miss South Africa had been arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport for carrying 2 kg of cocaine stashed inside two bags of coffee, which she allegedly carried in her suitcases. The report claimed she was caught by the customs and border protection officers.

But the Sun International PR manager and a former Miss South Africa, Claudia Henkel calls the report ‘fake’.

“We chose at first to ignore the reports because we believed that people would realise that it was from a fake site,” Henkel said.

She continued, “However, in light of the fact that we have had queries from legitimate media outlets we would like to set the record straight. Ntando has not been arrested and she has not been caught with any drugs in her possession. She is currently in South Africa and is not in London; in fact she has never been there.”

Meanwhile, Metro Uk had yet to retract the claims as at press time.
