Nigerian Army Kill 3 Female Suicide Bombers in Borno as Troops Avert an Attack

The Nigerian Army successfully averted a bomb attack at a military location at Gwoza, Gwoza Local Government Area in Borno State, yesterday.

According to reports, three female suicide bombers were killed after they attempted to force their way into the troops’ location. They were exposed by vigilantes who suspected their dressing and the nature of the hijab they were wearing to contain IEDS.

In a statement issued by Army spokesperson, Colonel Sani Usman, the suicide bombers came through the Pulka axis and were sighted by members of the vigilante from a distance who alerted the troops about the impending attack. The women reportedly looked suspicious as they were walking awkwardly with bulging hijabs which was very distinct from other female farmers.

The suicide bombers who came through Pulka axis were sighted by members of vigilante from a distance and alerted the troops about the impending catastrophe. The very observant vigilante also noted that the women looked suspicious; walking awkwardly with bulging hijab and distinct from other female farmers.

When the suicide bombers noticed that they were being observed, they hurriedly ran towards troops aiming to detonate it on them. The troops neutralized 2 of the female suicide bombers, while the other ran back into the bush but was pursued. Unfortunately, a soldier sustained injuries due to the impact of the explosion. The wounded soldier is currently receiving treatment at a military medical centre and he is in stable condition.

The suicide bombers were said to have hurriedly run towards the troops, aiming to detonate their bombs, when they noticed they were being observed. Fortunately, the soldiers managed to neutralize two of the bombers, while the other ran back into the bush. She was eventually captured.

A soldier sustained injuries due to the impact of the explosion. The wounded soldier is currently receiving treatment at a military medical centre in Maiduguri.

He is reportedly stable.
