Abuja – Troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade have rescued an 80-year- old man held hostage by the Boko Haram in Borno State.

Mallam Ibrahim Matuk was rescued in Shaltimari village.

Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, said the elderly man stated he suffered untold hardship in the hands of the terrorists, who killed all his children while in  captivity.

The number of children could not be ascertained.

“The atrocities of the Boko Haram terrorists knew no bound,” Usman said.

“The elderly man, Mallam Ibrahim Matuk stated that he suffered untold hardship in the hands of the Boko Haram terrorists who killed all his children while in captivity.”

The Boko Haram has kidnapped thousands during a reign of terror to carve an Islamic state in the country.

The Army has in recent months freed many from the sect’s clutches.
