Nigerian Producer Young John Receives First International Recognition from T-Pain

Popular Nigerian music producer, Young John, ‘The Wicked Producer’ has just recorded a noteworthy milestone in his career.

The 21-year-old, who is best known for producing Olamide’s Story for the Gods, was commended by American rapper, T-pain early this morning. Young John, who is one of the youngest in the game, was also featured on American website, Mass Appeal where it was revealed that he had worked with American music producers and DJ duo, Classixx on the song. The magazine praised Young John’s work and stated that they see this remix being added to DJ playlists around the world.

Classixx’ Faraway Reach album, released in June, was a welcomed foray into brightly lit dance music that may have the effect of lowering your body temperature by a few degrees. The synths used throughout feel like cold steel which is perfect for the heatwave we’re experiencing in New York. But they turned the temperature right back up with the remix of “Whatever I Want” by Nigeria’s Young Jonn The Wicked Producer. The talented artist has already worked with Wizkid, Olamide, and others.

For this remix, Young Jonn speeds up the tempo and represents the strong percussion culture of Africa. T-Pain’s vocals are mostly untouched yet feel just at home as they did on the original. We can definitely see this remix being added to DJ playlists around the world.

You can catch Classixx on tour from September through November in North America at the cities below. Please note that the previous Halloween show has been removed. You can also watch the video for the original track below, which was a shot-by-shot recreation of The Smiths’ “Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This Before.”

YBNL’s Olamide also took to instagram to praise the producer with the simple caption: ‘Wickedest!’
