Prince Iheanyi Emenyonu Njemanze, Lineal Descendant of the late Monarch and Paramount Ruler of Owerri Imo State; King Emmanuel Njemanze VIII & Ozuruigbo V, broke silence since the demise of his father, appealing to traditional rulers of the nation to lead the resolve to the ethnic and political divide threatening the existence of our great nation.

Speaking from the royal chambers of the MONUMENTAL PALACE de OZURUIGBO V, OWERRI, Capital city in Imo State; the tenacious young Prince respectfully beseech our spiritual fathers to unite the nation despite diverse differences especially on matters bordering on ethnicity, religion and politics. Expressing concern over the disturbing emotions and reactions of Nigerians over the quit notice given to the Igbo’s residing in the North, the Lineal Descendant of King Njemanze VIII, fears that extremism in action will only breed far outstretched suffering to all parts of the country and thus bleed the nation to a point of irrecognizable status.

“I am a Nigerian” said the Prince. As a boy, the early part of my growing up was in the North at the Nigerian Military School Zaria, where I attended my secondary school and further lived there after my passing out. I knew no segregation. We weren’t taught the difference between ideologies of the multi ethnic groups or religion but rather it was common teaching to learn the different ethnic languages for ease of communication and most importantly, to create far greater bond amongst ourselves. This is a time of building a stable and peaceful nation free from the influence of politics; a venom that has willed many to take an unseemly position of settlement at the expense of amicable coexistence and orient uniformity. As citizens and patriots, we should know that our nation is susceptible to political coercion and more so politically vulnerable to allow sentiments and groups with no locus corrupt the ideology that strengthens our might as a nation. Our resistibility to multi-ethnic and geopolitical differences is our core strength and the spirit of brotherhood that has long salvaged our country should be upheld even more strongly now than ever.

Our traditional rulers despite their expressions of concern over these disturbing wave of fear across boundaries should please come together as an institution and discuss new ways of coexistence and the abolishment of confrontation in order to overcome fear and suspicion within communities and amongst the citizenry. The Prince further emphasized that “Matters of fundamentalism, principles, values, equity, fairness, peace and resolve are better adjudicated and brought to a reasonable settlement by Kings and not men”.
