13 Brigade Nigerian Army Holds Sent Forth Ceremony In Honour Of Outgoing Commander Brigadier General MO Ibrahim

The 13 Brigade Nigerian Army, Calabar, on Thursday held a colourful sent forth ceremony in honour of the outgoing Commander, Brigadier General MO Ibrahim, in recognition of his exceptional leadership, service, and contributions to the Brigade during his tenure.

The event, which drew retired senior officers, heads of security agencies, government functionaries, Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) members, members of the barracks community family, Honourary members of the 13 Brigade Officers’ Mess, and various military commanders, celebrated Brigadier General Ibrahim’s sterling achievements, transformative command style, and unwavering commitment to operational excellence and troop welfare.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief of Staff 13 Brigade, Colonel N Isuwa, extolled Brigadier General Ibrahim’s visionary leadership, describing him as “a commander who led with clarity of purpose, discipline, compassion, and an uncommon devotion to the Nigerian Army’s core values.” He highlighted his role in enhancing the Brigade’s operational effectiveness, upgrading key infrastructure such as the OO Oluyede Hall, the renovation of the Officers’ Mess, and improvements in soldiers’ accommodation and training facilities.

Several speakers also praised the outgoing Commander for his hands-on approach to leadership, his calm management of security challenges; particularly communal clashes within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility and his efforts in fostering unity, professionalism, and continuous training among troops.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Ibrahim expressed deep appreciation to the officers and soldiers of 13 Brigade for their loyalty, cooperation, and dedication throughout his command. He urged them to remain disciplined, mission-focused, and committed to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity. He also thanked the Nigerian Army leadership for the opportunity to serve and contribute to national security.

The outgoing Commander used the occasion to introduce the incoming Commander, Brigadier General PO Alimikhena, to guests and well-wishers, assuring them of a smooth transition of leadership. He noted that the formal handing and taking over ceremony is scheduled for 1 December 2025.

The ceremony featured goodwill messages and presentation of gifts in honour of his distinguished service.
