13 Brigade, Nigerian Immigration Service Strengthen Security Ties
The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Cross River State Command has paid a courtesy visit to the Commander 13 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General MO Ibrahim, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and enhance security across the state.
The visit, held on 16 September 2025 at the Brigade Headquarters, Calabar, was led by The Comptroller of Immigration Service (CIS) Emeka Eneh, accompanied by senior officers of the Service.
In his remarks, CIS Emeka Eneh lauded the Nigerian Army for its unwavering dedication to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity, particularly within the sensitive border corridors of Cross River State. He noted that the complex security environment demands closer cooperation among all security agencies. “The fight against transnational crimes such as human trafficking, smuggling, and irregular migration requires seamless intelligence sharing and joint operations,” CIS Eneh stated. He further expressed the Service’s readiness to deepen operational ties with 13 Brigade to strengthen border surveillance and ensure the safety of law-abiding citizens.
Responding, Brigadier General MO Ibrahim warmly welcomed the delegation and commended the Nigerian Immigration Service for its pivotal role in national security. He emphasized that both the Army and Immigration share a common objective of ensuring the security of the nation, noting that “Cross River State is unique because of its international boundaries with Cameroon, yet the state remains remarkably peaceful. Here we see ourselves as one family and operate as a single team.”
General Ibrahim further praised the Immigration Service for its critical efforts in controlling migration across the state’s porous borders, which, if left unchecked, could pose serious security concerns given the multiple crossing points with neighboring countries. “The Nigerian Army recognizes the Immigration Service as a critical partner in our collective effort to secure our borders and protect our people,” he said. “Effective security cannot be achieved in isolation. Through regular interaction, information exchange, and joint operations, we can decisively curb cross-border crimes and sustain peace within Cross River State and beyond.”
He assured the NIS of the Brigade’s full support in intelligence sharing, joint patrols, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing the professional efficiency of both services.
Highlights of the visit included the exchange of souvenirs, signing of visitor’s book, and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
