1,500 Soldiers’ Wives and Widows Of Fallen Heroes Benefit As NAOWA President Organizes Humanitarian Outreach In Abuja

In furtherance of her mission to uplift members of the barracks community and in service to humanity, the President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs. Mernan Femi Oluyede, has organized a large-scale humanitarian outreach benefiting over 1,500 members of the military community, including widows of fallen heroes, members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA), and the Military Officers’ Wives Association (MIOWA).

The outreach which took place recently on Saturday, 28 June 2025, at the Guards Brigade Sports Complex, Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja, was part of NAOWA’s ongoing efforts to support military families and strengthen social bonds within the barracks.

Representing the NAOWA President at the event, the Deputy NAOWA President, Mrs. Bilkisu Ibrahim, encouraged NASWA members to remain steadfast in prayer and continue supporting their spouses serving in various operational theatres across the country.

She praised the women for their vital role in maintaining stability on the home front, especially during deployments and national assignments.

Mrs. Ibrahim also emphasized the importance of nurturing unity and peace within the home, noting that these values form the foundation of a strong and progressive society.

Highlights of the outreach were the distribution of food items to the beneficiaries and group photographs.

Organized on the heels of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2025, which commenced on 27 June and concluded with a grand finale in Kaduna State on 6 July 2025, the outreach reaffirmed NAOWA’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of military families and the preservation of enduring legacies of service.
