
167/197 Battalion Emerges Overall Best Winner Of 4 Special Forces Command Inter-Brigade Corporal and Below Competition 2025
The 4 Special Forces Command Inter-Brigade Corporal and Below Competition 2025 came to a close at the 401 Special Forces Brigade, Joe Akaahan Cantonment in Makurdi, on 26 April 2025. Representing the Special Guest of Honor, Major General HE Nzan, was the Chief of Staff HQ JTF Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General GN Abubakar.
In his address, Major General Nzan applauded the participants, organizers, and formations for demonstrating exceptional passion, skill, and professionalism throughout the four-day event. He highlighted the significance of purposeful training in enhancing military professionalism and combat readiness.
The Special Guest of Honor expressed satisfaction with the commendable efforts made by participating formations and organizers. He urged all to take note of the lessons and new skills showcased during the competition to improve training and operations within the Command and the Nigerian Army.
Major General Nzan reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to perfecting current tactics, techniques, and procedures, aligning with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy. He congratulated the winning formations and encouraged others to strive harder for future competitions.
The competition’s overall rankings were as follows: 167/197 Battalion emerged as the overall best winner, followed by 4 SF Command Garrison in second position, and 401 SF Brigade in third position.
Major General Nzan extended gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, for his continued support and resources provided to the Command. He further thanked the judges, umpires, host formation, organizers, and invited guests for their contributions to the competition’s success.
The event culminated in the presentation of trophies and prizes to competing units and individuals, as well as souvenirs and a group photograph.
