
2 Division Nigerian Army Strengthens Collaboration With Nigerian Customs, Prioritises Security Of Osun and Oyo Indigenes and Collaboration Against Smuggling
The Headquarters (HQ) 2 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), and the Nigeria Customs Services (NCS), Oyo/Osun States Command, have pledged to collaborate more, and deepen their partnership to bolster security throughout their Areas of Operational Responsibilities (AOR).
The commitment was made on Tuesday, March 25 2025, during a maiden visit of the newly appointed Customs Area Comptroller (CAC) NCS, Oyo/Osun States Command, Comptroller Joseph Adelaja to the General Officer Commander (GOC) 2 Division, NA, Major General Obinna Onubogu, at the 2 Division HQ, Ibadan.
In his remarks, Major General Onubogu, appreciated that Comptroller Joseph’s commitment to deepening synergy between the agencies, and stressed that it would improve security within the region. He added that the NA will remain resolute in its commitment to aiding the NCS and other security agencies in fostering a safer and more thriving nation.
The GOC, further stated that the Division’s doors would remain open to the agency; adding that the Division will provide necessary assistance whenever the need arises. He also commended the agency’s efforts in tackling the persistent smuggling issues in the region, while appreciating them for their enamours contributions towards the successes recorded in the daily operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN). These, the GOC said, should not be taken for granted; emphasizing that the NCS was a major contributor to the non-oil revenues of the country as well as protecting the nation from contraband and dangerous import goods.
Earlier in his speech, Comptroller Joseph Adelaja, praised the NA for its steadfast support and partnership with other security agencies in maintaining national security. He further recognized the professionalism of the NA, commending its troops for their alertness on the front lines, and urged for increased joint training, operations, and intelligence sharing to further strengthen the efficiency of other agencies, and yield better results. The Area Comptroller, also reassured the GOC of the NCS’ readiness to sustain and deepen their partnership to enhance security efforts across the region.
Commanders and Principal Staff Officers from both services were present at the event. There were presentation of souvenirs to mark the end of the visit.
