2 Suicide Bombers Killed by Civilian JTF in Maiduguri
A desperate attempt by decimated insurgents to wreak havoc in the North East was foiled Friday morning as two suicide bombers were shot dead by the Civilian JTF in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
According to Sahara Reporters, two male suicide bombers heavily fitted with IEDs and other devices stormed Kusari area near CBN Staff Quarters in Maiduguri at about 6:45 am this morning, but were shot and killed by the vigilante before they could detonate the devices.
The men, whose target seemed to be the morning prayers at a nearby mosque, were reportedly sighted by vigilant elders who stopped and queried them about their mission in the area, a member of Civilian JTF who participated in the operations revealed.
“Our elders sighted them in our community roaming around, so they called them and tried to know their identities because their faces were strange to us. Instead, they started running, and we pursued them, shot and killed them. There were IEDs wrapped on their bodies that did not yet explode
“We thank Allah for saving us from the evil men that had wanted to wreak havoc on residents of Maiduguri. It could have been deadly if they hit their target,” the vigilante member, named Massa Umaru said.
The military have since cordoned off the whole area as normalcy has now been restored.
