20 Model Battalion Marks Nigerian Army Day Celebration With A Colourful Parade

The 20 Model Battalion Serti – Baruwa, Gashaka Local Government Area of Taraba State celebrated the 2019 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) with a colourful Commanding Officer’s (CO) Parade held at the battalion parade ground on Saturday 6, July 2019.

In his speech, the Battalion CO Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Sani Adamu who was the review officer said, NADCEL is an annual event held on the 6th of July every year in honour of the members of the Nigerian Army especially those who took part in World War I and II as well as those that lost their lives during the Nigerian Civil War and current serving members of the Nigerian Army.

Lt Col Adamu said the inclusion of Nigerian Army Officers on Conversion Board Cadre in the parade is aimed at enhancing their regimentation and military bearing in line with the COAS vision of having a professionally responsive NA in the discharge of its constitutional roles as it is a known fact that regimentation starts and ends on the parade ground.

When the Parade matched in review order, the CO gave awards to outstanding soldiers who distinguished themselves in their various places of assignment and the unit soldiers who arrested kidnappers with huge amount of money. He said a letter has been sent to 23 Brigade in consideration for a special promotion for them. He further charged the unit soldiers to emulate the hard work, dedication and bravery displayed by the recipients of the award.

In his concluding remarks, the CO thanked the COAS for the trust and confidemce he bestowed in the unit, the dignitaries for finding time to attend the NADCEL Parade and urged the personnel of the Nigerian Army that grace the occasion to be good ambassadors of the Nigeria Army and live a life worthy of emulation as gentlemen officers and soldiers of the Nigeria Army.

Dignitaries who graced the occasions include HRH emir of gashaka Alh (Dr) Zubairu Hammangabdo, various heads of military and paramilitary units within Gashaka Local Government Area among others.
