
3 Division Clinches Nigerian Army Inter-Formations Cross Country Crown, Presents Trophy To GOC
In a resounding display of endurance and teamwork, participants from 3 Division emerged as overall champions of the Nigerian Army Inter-Formations Cross Country Competition. The victory culminated in a trophy presentation to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General EF Oyinlola, at the Headquarters Complex on Friday, 24 October 2024.
The victorious team, made up of officers and soldiers drawn from various formations and units within 3 Division’s area of responsibility, outpaced rivals in a closely contested cross-country race held at the Army Headquarters Garrison, Abuja. The win solidifies 3 Division’s reputation for athletic excellence and camaraderie under challenging conditions.
The trophy presentation was conducted by Acting Assistant Director Army Physical Training, Lt Col A Kadiri, in the presence of the acting Chief of Staff, staff officers, and participants.
In his address to the competitors, Major General Oyinlola lauded their exceptional performance, noting that it was the key factor behind 3 Division’s overall victory. He also commended their conduct throughout the competition and personally exchanged handshakes with each participant. In a gesture of appreciation and encouragement, the GOC pledged cash rewards and other gifts for the team, underscoring the Army’s tradition of recognizing outstanding achievement and motivating troops to maintain high standards of fitness and teamwork.
High points of the ceremony included the formal trophy presentation to the GOC and a group photograph capturing the moment of triumph.
