3 Division Graduates Soldiers In Basic Driving Skills For Enhanced Operations

The Headquarters 3 Division Nigerian Army in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps and Vehicle Inspection Office, Plateau State has successfully graduated 36 Soldiers trained in Basic Driving Skills today 24 May 2024. The ceremony which took place at Headquarters Auditorium climaxed with presentation of certificates to the soldiers drawn from all the units and formation within 3 Division.

Speaking at the event, the Special Guest of Honour, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army/Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General AE Abubakar charged the newly trained drivers to professionally utilize the skills acquired to ensure the safety of troops conduction operations to secure the citizens. General Abubakar narrated that the objective of training the drivers was inline with the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy to enhance the soldier’s skills and build the capacity of drivers with basic driving techniques and general vehicle maintenance.

Represented by the Division Training Officer, Brigadier General A Aminu, the GOC/Commander OPSH further charged the drivers to maintain high levels of enthusiasm in operating military vehicles, while ensuring strict adherence to traffick rules.

The GOC/Commander OPSH remarked that, it was in the best interest of the 3 Division to ensure that personnel continually advance their knowledge, experiences and ability to effectively contribute to military operations.

In his welcome address, the Acting Commander 73 Supply and Transport Brigade, Colonel BY Abbas, appreciated the GOC for his support towards the success of the course. He added, that the event marked another milestone in the execution of the formation’s assigned task, as well as training activities in line with the 3 Division’s 2024 Training
cycle.

Colonel Abbas disclosed that the students were drawn from various formations and units within the Cantonment. He maintained that with the support from the FRSC and other agencies in grooming the students, the graduating students would contribute their quota in achieving the Division’s assigned tasks.

The climax of the event includes the presentation of certificates, presentation of awards to deserving students and group photograph.
