6 Division Nigerian Army Holds Jumma’at Prayers, Route Match, and Church Service
Activities lined up for the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2023 have commenced. In 6 Division Nigerian Army, the curtain raiser, the Friday Jumaat Prayers was held on 30 June 2023, in Port Harcourt Barracks, Rivers State. The Jumaat prayer was well attended across Brigades and units within 6 Division Area of Responsibility. In Port Harcourt Barracks, the prayer was attended by the General Officer Commanding and other senior officers. The Chairperson NAOWA 6 Division Chapter also led other members to the Jumaat Prayers.
Closely following the Jumma’at prayers, a 10 Kilometer Inter Agency Route Match was staged on Saturday, 1 July 2023. The route match was attended by personnel of the Nigerian Navy, Air Force, Correctional Service, FRSC, and Department of State Security.
Speaking at the end of the route match, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, commended personnel for their endurance throughout the route. He enthused that the route match aside the physical and health benefits for personnel who participated, detered criminal wannabees. The sight of personnel in sheer numbers, he added; equally sent a message of strength and solidarity amongst the security agencies. He urged all to maintain the spirit of camaraderie going forward. He urged all to remain disciplined and loyal to the constitution and the President C-in-C.
Similar to the scenes on Friday, 30 June 2023, an Interdenominational Church Service was held Sunday, 2 July 2023. The interdenominational Church Service was also equally well attended with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, The Nigerian Police, The Nigerian Air Force, and the Federal Road Safety Corps all in attendance. Equally, in attendance with a touch of brilliant white were the members Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association.
Highpoint of the Interdenominational Church Service was the Chief of Army Staff Major General Taoreed Lagbaja’s Goodwill message, which was delivered by the Commander 6 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Eddy Effiong.
Activities lined up for the week continue with public speaking engagement in a selected secondary school for Monday 3 July and free medical outreach in Tai Local Government Area Council on Tuesday, 4 July. The grand finale is expected to be on 6 July 2023 at Ibadan.
