
82 Division Nigerian Army Conducts Free Medical Outreach In Cross River State Community
In line with the Nigerian Army’s constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and deterring violent aggression, troops of 13 Brigade Nigerian Army under the 82 Division Nigerian Army conducted a series of operations along the Nigerian-Cameroon border to checkmate the activities of militant groups, including incursions into Nigerian territory.
In addition to non-kinetic military operations and in line with Nigerian Army doctrine, 13 Brigade Nigerian Army, Calabar, conducted a free medical outreach in Danare community, Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, on Tuesday, 29 April 2025. Over 1,000 residents benefited from the free medical outreach.
The Commander, 13 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Muftau Owodiran Ibrahim, in his remarks, said, “We are here this morning to give back to the Danare community, who have immensely assisted our operations in the area.” He highlighted that the Nigerian Army is an institution responsible for national security and that the medical outreach was part of the Army’s efforts to ensure the people of Danare are secure and healthy.
The commander also stated that the Nigerian Army is not only responsible for securing lives but also gives back to the people from time to time. Thus, the medical outreach was a gesture of appreciation to the people of Danare.
The activities during the free medical outreach included medical consultation, vital sign checks, malaria tests, diabetes tests, blood sugar tests, blood pressure checks, and administration of drugs to citizens.
The village head, who also benefited from the medical outreach, expressed his appreciation to the Nigerian Army for choosing his community. He said that the free medical outreach would help address some medical challenges facing residents of the community. He further stated that the outreach had brought new hope to his community, which had felt neglected.
Present at the occasion were the Commanding Officer of 245 Battalion, Colonel Bello; officers; soldiers; and other security agencies within the local government.
