The Chief of Naval Transformation (CNTRANS), R Adm MK Unurhiere, delivered the lecture, emphasising mentoring as the highest form of leadership. He defined mentoring as serving as a model, advisor, counsellor, guide, and tutor to produce someone greater than oneself. “Mentoring is not about making someone just like you, but about making the person better,” he stressed. The CNTRANS drew from military doctrine, leadership literature, and personal experience to inspire the Cadets to lead with character, humanity, and foresight. Additionally, the Commandant of the College, Rear Admiral HS Zego highlighted the relevance of mentorship in the military, urging the cadets to lead with character, competence, and compassion. The lecture was attended by the Flag Officer Commanding, Naval Training Command, who witnessed the Cadets’ readiness to take on their future roles. As the cadets prepare to embark on their noble mission, they are expected to embody the values of leadership, integrity, and service, upholding the highest standards of the Nigerian Navy and contributing to the Nation’s growth and Security.
