Defence Headquarters Assessment Team Evaluates Operational Readiness Of 6 Brigade

The Defence Headquarters Assessment Team, on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, conducted an operational assessment visit to Headquarters 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Jalingo, Taraba State, as part of ongoing efforts to evaluate operational activities and assess the combat readiness of troops in the field.

Speaking during the visit, the Team Leader, Brigadier General MS Adamu, stated that the objective of the assessment was to evaluate the Brigade’s operational and combat readiness, while also ensuring that troops remain motivated and adequately equipped to execute assigned tasks effectively. He noted that the exercise aligns with the command philosophy of the Chief of the Defence Staff, which emphasizes jointness, professionalism, and mission-oriented operations in the defence of Nigeria.

Brigadier General Adamu observed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria rely significantly on the discipline, resilience, and commitment of personnel in addressing insecurity and emerging threats across the country. He therefore charged the troops to remain steadfast, dedicated, and continue contributing meaningfully toward the attainment of the Armed Forces’ strategic objectives.

The Team Leader also commended the Commander 6 Brigade for the warm reception accorded to the team upon arrival in the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility (AOR). He reassured troops that Defence Headquarters remains committed to providing the necessary support to enhance operational efficiency and mission success.

In his remarks, the Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Akaliro, expressed appreciation to the Defence Headquarters Assessment Team for the visit and acknowledged the significance of the assessment in improving operational effectiveness. He highlighted key operational and logistical challenges confronting the Brigade and assured the team of sustained efforts to mitigate them. He further reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to enhancing combat readiness and sustaining operational momentum in the discharge of its mandate.

Highlights of the visit included briefings on operational and administrative facilities, presentation of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph session.
