Nigerian Special Forces Showcase Combat Capabilities To Armed Forces Command and Staff College Students
The Regiment Training Centre Annex (RTCA), Bauchi, recently conducted a combat capability demonstration for students of Junior Course 102 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, during their study tour to Headquarters Special Operations Command, Bauchi. Held at the Centre’s Commando Training Village, the exercise showcased the operational capabilities of the Nigerian Air Force Special Forces in a complex air and ground operational environment. The display featured realistic tactical scenarios, including hostage rescue, close-quarter battle and casualty evacuation, providing the visiting officers with valuable practical insights into the planning and execution of contemporary Special Forces operations in support of national security.
As part of the engagement, the Commandant of RTCA Bauchi, Squadron Leader Edeama Akpan, delivered a briefing on the Centre’s mandate and strategic role in developing highly skilled Special Forces personnel for the Nigerian Air Force. He highlighted the Centre’s specialised training programmes and its contribution to strengthening operational readiness across the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The briefing was followed by an interactive session during which the students exchanged ideas on the operational employment of NAF Special Forces, reinforcing the importance of continuous professional military education and knowledge sharing in addressing evolving security challenges.
The visit reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to excellence in Special Forces training and its collaboration with sister services in strengthening joint operations and interoperability. By exposing future operational leaders to realistic combat capabilities and operational best practices, the engagement reinforced the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s commitment to maintaining a professional, mission-ready force capable of responding effectively to contemporary security challenges.
