Nigeria Police Operational Successes: Kidnap Victims Rescued, Suspects Arrested Across States

The Nigeria Police operational successes recorded between August 4 and 6, 2026, have resulted in multiple arrests, the rescue of kidnapping victims, and the recovery of firearms and ammunition across several states.

According to the latest state-by-state operational summary from the Nigeria Police Force, police and joint security teams carried out operations targeting kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, illegal arms trafficking, communal violence and other criminal activities.

The operations were conducted in states including Osun, Ogun, Jigawa, Ebonyi, Ondo, Sokoto, Nasarawa, Imo, Benue, Akwa Ibom and Oyo.

Four Kidnap Victims Rescued in Ogun

One of the major Nigeria Police operational successes was recorded in Ogun State, where police rescued four kidnapped students on August 6.

The victims were rescued unharmed and taken for medical attention before their expected reunion with their families.

Police said efforts are continuing to secure the release of other victims and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.

In a separate operation in Ogun State on the same day, another kidnap victim was rescued unharmed. The victim was also taken for medical attention while security operatives continued efforts to arrest the suspected kidnappers.

Abducted Child Rescued in Jigawa

Police operatives in Jigawa State rescued an abducted child allegedly held by suspected traffickers.

Two suspects were arrested in connection with an alleged plot to sell the child.

The suspects are currently being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse.

Suspected Kidnapper Arrested in Ondo

In Ondo State, anti-kidnapping operatives arrested a suspected kidnapper during a bush-combing operation.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly confessed to participating in kidnapping activities and identified other members of the suspected gang.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to apprehend other individuals allegedly connected to the group.

Firearms Recovered in Ebonyi

Police anti-kidnapping operatives in Ebonyi State arrested a suspect allegedly linked to an earlier abduction and suspected murder case.

The operation resulted in the recovery of three firearms, comprising two double-barrel guns and one single-barrel gun.

Police said efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects who reportedly fled the area.

In another operation in Ebonyi on August 5, anti-kidnapping operatives raided an alleged cult initiation meeting and arrested 37 suspected cult members.

Two locally made pistols, three live cartridges and other cult-related exhibits were recovered.

870 Rounds of Ammunition Seized in Sokoto

Another major highlight of the Nigeria Police operational successes was recorded in Sokoto State, where police intercepted two suspected gun runners allegedly heading toward a forest close to the Niger Republic border.

The suspects were arrested and police recovered 870 rounds of 7.62×39mm live ammunition and a vehicle.

In a separate operation in Sokoto, police also recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla shortly after it was reported stolen. One suspect was arrested in connection with the vehicle theft.

Suspects Arrested Over Ammunition Supply in Nasarawa

Police in Nasarawa State arrested a suspect allegedly involved in the illegal movement of 251 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition.

Authorities said investigations are continuing to identify and apprehend other members of the alleged syndicate.

In another operation in the state, joint police and vigilante operatives arrested a suspect during stop-and-search activities.

A Beretta pistol, one magazine and seven rounds of live ammunition were reportedly recovered.

Six Suspects Arrested at Imo Criminal Hideout

In Imo State, police operatives raided an alleged criminal hideout and arrested six suspects.

The operation also led to the dismantling of a suspected criminal shrine and the recovery of various alleged criminal charms.

Police said efforts are continuing to apprehend suspects who fled the scene.

Communal Violence: 22 Suspects Arrested in Benue

Police and tactical teams in Benue State restored normalcy following a communal crisis on August 5.

A total of 22 suspects were arrested in connection with the violence.

According to the police, no lives were lost during the security intervention.

The State Criminal Investigation Department in Makurdi is handling the investigation.

Cultism Operations in Akwa Ibom

Police in Akwa Ibom State arrested 12 suspected cultists after intercepting a suspected stolen minibus during stop-and-search operations.

A locally made pistol and three live cartridges were reportedly recovered from the vehicle.

In another operation conducted on August 4, police raided an alleged cultist hideout and arrested five suspects.

The operation resulted in the recovery of another locally made pistol, a POS machine, cash, suspected charms, cannabis and other exhibits.

Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested in Oyo

Joint security operatives in Oyo State arrested a suspected armed robber during Operation Gbamu.

A locally fabricated pistol was recovered from the suspect, who was subsequently taken into custody for further investigation.

Murder Suspect Arrested in Osun

In Osun State, police arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal assault following an alleged confrontation.

The suspect remained in police custody while receiving medical treatment as investigations continued.

The State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo is handling the case.
