As Adversaries Evolve, Intelligence Personnel Must Continually Learn – GOC 81 Division
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, has emphasised the importance of continuous learning and professional development among intelligence personnel, stressing that adversaries will continue to evolve and adapt to changing operational environments.
The GOC stated this as the Special Guest of Honour at the combined graduation ceremony of the Nigerian Army Intelligence School (NAIS) Second Quarter Courses 2026, held at Tego Barracks, Apapa, Lagos.
Congratulating the graduands, Major General Babalola described their achievement as a significant milestone and a valuable investment by the Nigerian Army, particularly in view of the increasingly complex and interconnected nature of contemporary security threats. He commended the Commandant, instructors and support staff for their commitment to strengthening the Army’s intelligence capabilities and ensuring training remains responsive to operational needs.
Earlier, the Commandant, Nigerian Army Intelligence School, Brigadier General David Umaru, disclosed that the ceremony marked the completion of eight courses covering intelligence management, counter-intelligence, young officers’ training, document security and intelligence operations.
He said the School had strengthened its practical training to enable students understand threats as interconnected systems, with emphasis on financial intelligence, human intelligence and intelligence support to counter-improvised explosive device operations.
In his vote of thanks, the Acting Deputy Commandant, Colonel Kenneth Amedu, charged the graduands to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in support of Nigerian Army operations and uphold the professional values instilled in them.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers from the Armed Forces, Police and other security agencies, as well as other dignitaries. It featured the presentation of certificates, awards and souvenirs to the graduands and outstanding performers, followed by group photographs.
