
Operational Visit: Commander 27 Task Force Brigade Visits 120 Battalion Gonori
The Commander, 27 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Mukhtar Shehu Mukhtar, on Saturday, 22 August 2026, paid an operational visit to 120 Battalion, Gonori, Yobe State, as part of efforts to assess the operational readiness, welfare and general security situation of troops and locations under his command.
During the visit, the Commander was briefed on the security situation within the Battalion’s area of responsibility, ongoing operations and the challenges confronting the troops. He also inspected key locations and interacted with officers and soldiers on the ground.
General Mukhtar Shehu Mukhtar commended the troops for their commitment, resilience and sacrifices in the ongoing fight against Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, as well as other security threats within the State. He charged them to remain vigilant, disciplined and resolute in the discharge of their responsibilities, while maintaining the highest level of professionalism.
He further urged the troops to sustain aggressive and coordinated operations against criminal elements, remain security conscious and continue to deny the adversary freedom of action within their area of responsibility.
The Commander also reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to the welfare of troops and assured them of continued leadership support towards enhancing their operational effectiveness and morale. He also charged the Commanding Officer (CO) to prioritize the troops’ welfare by granting them regular passes when due, as well as addressing other administrative issues.
On arrival at the Battalion Headquarters in Gonori, the Commander, 27 Task Force Brigade, was received by the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel GI Oserimen, who formally welcomed him to the unit. Lieutenant Colonel Oserimen thereafter briefed the Commander on the operational activities, security situation and other developments within the Battalion’s area of responsibility.
The visit culminated with tours of facilities within the Battalion, presentation of souvenirs, refreshments and group photographs.
