Nigerian Air Force Commissions Macro Water Station In Ago-Ododo Community, Ogun State
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a Macro Water Station in Ago-Ododo Community, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening civil-military relations and supporting the welfare of host communities. Commissioned on 24 September 2026, the project is one of the Special Intervention Projects initiated by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to address critical community needs while fostering mutual trust and cooperation between the NAF and the people. The project was executed in honour of Air Vice Marshal Emmanuel Olarewaju Shobande (Rtd), a distinguished son of Ogun State, in recognition of his contributions to the Nigerian Air Force.
Representing the CAS, the Director Coordination & Cooperation, Headquarters NAF, Air Vice Marshal CE Akpa, highlighted the importance of strong and mutually beneficial relationships with host communities, noting that access to essential infrastructure such as potable water contributes to peaceful coexistence and an enabling environment for effective military operations. The facility features a high-yield borehole, 20,000-litre water storage tank, eight water-drawing points, workers’ bay, toilet facilities, generator, perimeter fencing and solar-powered floodlights.
The intervention forms part of the NAF’s broader non-kinetic efforts to win the confidence and cooperation of host communities, with 19 Special Intervention Projects commissioned across various communities and others ongoing. By complementing kinetic operations with meaningful community engagement and development initiatives, the NAF continues to demonstrate that effective military service also encompasses improving the welfare and well-being of the people it serves.
