Kendall Jenner has strutted the Balmain runway at Paris Fashion week, graced the cover of Vogue and was named a Victoria Secret model last year. Unfortunately for the 20-year-old reality TV star, not all designers are impressed by her work as a model.
During a recent interview, popular American fashion designer Calvin Klein revealed that he didn’t approve of the company’s decision for Kendall to front the Calvin Klein #MyCalvins campaign. According to him, he wouldn’t have chosen the reality star to feature in the campaign.
“Choosing the reality star is not the kind of thing I would have done, even today” said the 73-year-old designer. “Now models are paid for how many followers they have on social media not booked because they represent the essence of the designer,” he added.
Klein , who sold his brand in 2002, also stated that he wouldn’t rely on social media to ensure a strong brand however he had some ideas on how social media could be an asset.
“Just putting any old clothes on Kim Kardashian, long-term, isn’t going to do a thing.”
Surprisingly, the designer gave his approval of Justin Bieber in the Calvin Klein Underwear campaign, stating that he thought it was very good. “It’s because I like him — not because he’s got millions of followers,” he explained.
The shade though!
