Air Traffic Services Training Centre, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Sign MoU To Strengthen Human Capacity In Aviation Service Delivery
The Air Traffic Services Training Centre (ATSTC) of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration in human capacity development to ensure excellence in aviation service delivery. The agreement, signed on Friday, 29 August 2025 at the ATSTC Headquarters in Kaduna, is designed to align training with international best practices that promote safety, efficiency, and the effective management of both civil and military air operations across Nigeria’s airspace and beyond. The landmark partnership reflects the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, which prioritises capacity building, innovation, and strategic partnerships as key enablers of airpower.
In his remarks, the Commandant of ATSTC, Air Vice Marshal Nasiru Babatunde Folaji, described the MoU as a mutually beneficial partnership that would open new frontiers in aviation training. He emphasised that the collaboration would cover specialised programmes in airline, airport, airspace, and meteorology operations, in addition to personnel exchange initiatives between the two institutions. Air Vice Marshal Folaji also commended the leadership of NCAT for its dedication and swift commitment towards bringing the partnership to fruition, stressing that the initiative was in line with the CAS’s drive to strengthen civil-military synergies in aviation.
Similarly, the Rector and Chief Executive of NCAT, Dr Danjuma Adamu Ismaila, lauded the establishment of the ATSTC as both timely and strategic, given the increasing demand for air traffic services training within the industry. He affirmed that ATSTC serves as a complementary partner rather than a competitor and pledged NCAT’s full commitment to actualising the objectives of the MoU. The agreement reflects a shared vision to enhance institutional capacity and sustain excellence in aviation training, ensuring Nigeria meets the evolving requirements of both civil and military aviation.
