Air Vice Marshall Micheal Nnanye Onyebashi Assumes Command Of Nigerian Air Force Mobility Command

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Mobility Command, on 3 November 2025, witnessed a significant transition in leadership as Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Michael Nnanye Onyebashi assumed office as the 18th Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Mobility Command. He took over from the Acting AOC, AVM Simon Peter, following the appointment of Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the 17th AOC, as the Chief of the Air Staff by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on 24 October 2025. The colourful ceremony, held at the Command Headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, was attended by senior officers, officers, and personnel of the Command.

In his remarks, the outgoing Acting AOC, AVM Simon Peter, expressed gratitude to officers and men of the Command for their dedication and teamwork during his stewardship. He commended the significant strides recorded under the leadership of Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, particularly in enhancing operational efficiency, discipline, and welfare. He also highlighted key achievements, including the installation of a 24-hour inverter system that ensures uninterrupted power supply at the Headquarters complex.

In his maiden address, AVM Michael Onyebashi pledged to consolidate on the solid foundation laid by his predecessors while deepening a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration across the Command. He assured officers and personnel of his commitment to the Command’s mission and the overarching vision of the Chief of the Air Staff. The ceremony culminated in the symbolic handover of the Command Colour, representing the transfer of authority, and a vote of appreciation from officers and men of Mobility Command to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding their former Commander worthy of elevation. They reaffirmed their unwavering loyalty to the President and commitment to the ideals of service, professionalism, and national security.
