Seven persons have been confirmed dead over allegations of witchcraft at Dasin Bwate village in Fufore Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
On Sunday September 12, the youth of Dasin Bwate village under the leadership of Japheth Johnson invited a certain Immani Alfred Laddwos, who is a pastor attached to LCCN Church Jabolio village, Yola South LGA of Adamawa State. The pastor was invited to prophesize on the death of their youth leader Shuaibu Sarkin Matasan Dasin Bwate who was critically ill before his death on Monday September 13.
It was gathered that he prophesied to the youths that the seven killed suspected witchcrafts were responsible for the killings in the community. He revealed that 65 residents have been marked to be killed including the village head, Kenneth Solomon. This prompted the youth to kill the seven suspected witchcrafts.
The youths that perpetrated the killings are identified as Japheth Johnson, Jovian Joram, Nahum Francis, Lorences Francis, Kosemso Francis, Boyo Francis, Diyale Sowade, Ayuba, Jessu, Pwakono Jessu, Clifford Jessy, Stephen Kennedy, Cliyowas kennedy, Jonathan Abraham, Pwadakai Bulus, Pwavaino Iskiya, Holly Gibson, and Benedict Benson.
DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, the police spokesman in the state, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Yola.
Nguroje said that the incident occurred on Tuesday, adding that an investigation team had been deployed to the village.
“Seven people were killed in Dasin Bwate village in Fufore LGA over witchcraft allegations.
“The police have deployed an investigation team into the village,’’ Nguroje said.
He, however, said that when the team arrived at the village on Wednesday morning, the residents, including the village head, had deserted the community.
Nguroje said the team found the seven unidentified corpses in one of the houses in the village.
