APC Governors to Embark on Training Trip to Germany
President Muhammadu Buhari who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday hosted APC governors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Vanguard reports that the Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha spoke to newsmen on behalf of the APC governors at the end of the meeting with the president.
Okorocha stated that the APC governors were behind the president in the ongoing anti-corruption crusade of the federal government. He said that they also saluted the president over the successes so far recorded in the ongoing fight against insurgency in the country.
“We are concerned about the incessant happenings in the National Assembly and we have taken it upon ourselves to look into the matter, the crisis at the National Assembly.
“We are going to look into the matter because we need a strong, vibrant National Assembly to make things move fast in the country,’’ he said.
The Imo state governor equally acknowledged that there had been some improvements in the finances of state governments.
“There is a lot of improvement. You will recall that when oil was above 100 dollars, what the states are getting now is close to what they used to get when oil price was above 100 dollars,’’ he said.
According to him, this is a clear indication that the President Buhari-led administration was doing a lot to revive the economy.
Concerning criticisms trailing a proposed plan by the APC governors to travel to Germany for training, Okorocha said:
“There is nothing like jamboree trip. We are going to Germany because we cannot do everything here without exchanging ideas.
“Everything you do in your home, your business you share ideas. “So, we want to see how they have done what they had done to succeed. The aspiration of Nigeria is to be like other developed countries in the world.’’
