APC Stakeholders Laud Ambode’s Reunion With President Tinubu’s Political Dynasty

Prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Southwest, yesterday, lauded the reunion of former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political dynasty.

Ambode, the third governor of Lagos State, and unfortunately the first incumbent to be denied a second term ticket by the ruling party, had distanced himself from APC activities in the state in the last five years. He surprisingly showed up during the banquet organised in honour of Tinubu in Lagos last week.

Members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Pa Bashorun Olorunfunmi and Bushira Alebiosu; a former Osun State Commissioner for Information, Lani Baderinwa and Publicity Secretary of Lagos APC, Seye Oladejo, commended the reunion, describing it as a good development for the APC family in Lagos and Nigeria in general.

They noted that the reunion was part of the magnanimity of Tinubu, who doesn’t believe that political differences should be taken to the extreme or turned into a battle-to-death affair.

They also commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the spirit of forgiveness and the Omoluabi ethos he demonstrated by facilitating the reunion. Olorunfunmi said that Sanwo-Olu displayed some of the qualities in Tinubu’s political philosophy, noting that despite the uncomplimentary altercations between him and Ambode in 2018, he facilitated the return.

The octogenarian added that Sanwo-Olu had earlier shown respect and love to his immediate past predecessor when he showered encomium on Ambode during his 60th birthday ceremony.

He stated that Sanwo-Olu also went ahead to place congratulatory adverts celebrating Ambode in the media, which, according to him, was an uncommon display of love and maturity.

They all applauded Ambode for appreciating the gesture, saying he demonstrated the readiness to join hands with the APC family, not just to build Lagos, but Nigeria in general.
