

Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration 2025: NAOWA Members Attend Special Interdenominational Church Service In Honour Of Fallen Heroes
As the nation came together to honour the courageous men and women of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the nation’s peace and sovereignty, the President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Mernan Femi Oluyede, represented by Mrs Mary Sinjen, wife of the Chief of Operations (Army) Major General BR Sinjen, joined other distinguished personalities at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Interdenominational Church Service for Year 2025.
The solemn ceremony, held at the National Christian Centre on Sunday, 12 January 2025, served as a moving tribute to Nigeria’s fallen heroes.
In attendance at the service were several high-profile dignitaries, prominent amongst which were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume and the Senate President, His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio who was represented by the Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, Right Honourable Benjamin Kalu, amongst other top government functionaries.
Also in attendance were the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, the representative of the Chief of the Air Staff, and the Inspector General of Police IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, as well as heads of other paramilitary security agencies.
Additionally, the event was graced by senior military officers from the Defence and Services Headquarters, members of the diplomatic Corps, president of the Christian Association of Nigeria and other clergymen, officers and men of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, and members of the Nigerian Legion.
Furthermore, the President DEPOWA, Mrs Oghogho Musa, representative of the President NAOWA, vice president of NOWA, Mrs Zainab Akpan and the representative of the President NAFOWA as well as members of NAOWA, NOWA, NAFOWA and POWA, also graced the occasion amongst others.
Highlights of the service were special prayers, hymns, and scripture readings, led by clerics from various denominations, as well as group photographs and a rendition of the national anthem, which left many in quiet reflection.
