Army Assures INEC Of Maximum Support In The Conduct Of Edo Gubernatorial Election

The Commander 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ebenezer Oduyebo has assured the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the Brigade’s commitment and support towards ensuring a free, fair and credible election in the forthcoming Gubernatorial election in Edo State.

General Oduyebo gave the assurance today, Wednesday 21 February 2024, while receiving the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha at the Brigade Headquarters.

The Commander noted that the Army remains apolitical and will continue to discharge its duties professionally. This he said is in line with its mandate as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which is to provide a secured and conducive environment for INEC to succeed through effective collaboration with the police and other sister security agencies in the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha thanked the Commander for the warm reception accorded him and his team. He stated that the visit became necessary in order to enhance the already existing cordial relations between the Brigade and the commission especially in the light of the fourth coming gubernatorial electoral processes in the state.

Dr. Onuoha reiterated that with the support of the Brigade as a major stakeholder in the processes, the Commission will succeed in ensuring a free, fair and credible elections.
