
Army Headquarters Department Of Administration Committee Inspects Command Secondary Schools In Katsina, Visits Commissioner Of Education
A team from the Army Headquarters Department of Administration (AHQ DOAA), led by Major General MD Danja, on 12 February 2026, conducted an official inspection tour of Command Secondary Schools in Katsina State.
The committee, constituted to visit, assess and evaluate selected Command Secondary Schools, was received by the Commander 17 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ishaya Ibrahim, at Faskari. The team commenced the inspection at Command Day Secondary Schools (CDSS) at Faskari, where members assessed facilities, academic environment and overall standards in line with the mandate of the evaluation exercise.
Thereafter, the team proceeded to Command Science Secondary Girls School (CSSGS), Barkiya, Katsina State, where the committee further evaluated infrastructure, learning facilities and general operational standards of the school.
Following the inspections, the team leader, Major General MD Danja, accompanied by the 17 Brigade Commander and other members of the delegation, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner of Education, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Katsina State, Honourable Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia.
While briefing the Commissioner on the ongoing evaluation of Command Secondary Schools in Katsina State, Major General Danja explained that the Command schools were established by the Nigerian Army to provide quality education for the wards and children of serving personnel, while also supporting educational development for children from host communities.
Major General Danja appreciated the Commissioner for the warm reception accorded to the team and commended the Katsina State Government for its support to education. He also appealed for the sustenance of the scholarship being provided to children in Katsina State attending Command Secondary Schools.
In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner of Education, Honourable Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia, expressed appreciation to the visiting team for the assessment and commended the Nigerian Army for establishing Command schools, noting that the initiative has contributed significantly to improving the standard of education in Katsina State.
The Commissioner further requested increased enrolment of Katsina State children into the Command schools, in order to enhance literacy levels across the state. He assured the delegation that the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, would continue to uphold and sustain government support for education, including scholarship initiatives in the state.
