
Army Headquarters Evaluation Team Assess Operational Readiness At 6 Brigade
The Army Headquarters Department of Army Standards and Evaluation (AHQ DASE) assessment team, on Sunday, 8 March 2026, conducted an operational visit to Headquarters 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in Jalingo, Taraba State. The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to assess operational activities and evaluate the combat efficiency of troops in the field.
Speaking during the visit, the Team Leader, Brigadier General MU Ikobah, stated that the purpose of the assessment was to evaluate the operational and combat readiness of the Brigade and ensure that troops remain motivated and adequately equipped to carry out their assigned tasks. He noted that the initiative aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy: “To advance the transformation of the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready, and resilient force capable of decisively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment.”
Brigadier General Ikobah emphasized that the Nigerian Army relies heavily on the discipline, dedication, and determination of its personnel in addressing insecurity and emerging security threats across the country. He therefore urged the troops of the Brigade to continue supporting the efforts of the Chief of Army Staff by contributing their quota toward achieving the overall objectives of the Nigerian Army.
The Team Leader also expressed appreciation to the Brigade Commander for the warm reception accorded to the team upon their arrival in the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility (AOR). He assured the troops that Army Headquarters remains committed to providing the necessary support required to enhance their operational effectiveness.
In his remarks, the Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Micheal Akaliro, expressed gratitude to the assessment team for the visit. While highlighting some of the operational and logistical challenges facing the Brigade, he assured the Team Leader that the Brigade, under his leadership, would continue to improve in order to enhance its operational and combat efficiency. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to diligently carrying out its assigned mandate.
