Army War College Celebrates Legacy, Bids Farewell To Senior Officers, Soldiers and Corps Members

In an emotional and heartfelt ceremony, the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) bid farewell to four military personnel and five Corps members, marking the successful conclusion of their respective tenures. The event held on 29 January 2024 at the College Lounge AWCN Asokoro Abuja was attended by high-ranking faculty members. This was a testament to the significant contributions made by these individuals during their service at the prestigious institution.

The Commandant AWCN, Major General Ishaya Buba Maina, represented by the Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies, Brigadier General Aminu Umar, expressed deep gratitude for the untiring commitment and dedication exhibited by the departing officers and Corps members. General Umar highlighted the valuable contributions of the nine, acknowledging their role in enhancing the institution’s mission statement. General Umar charged the departing staff to be exemplary ambassadors of the values instilled at AWCN. He emphasized the importance of carrying forward the knowledge, skills, and ethos imbibed during their tenure, urging them to make positive impacts in their future endeavors.

Earlier in his opening remarks, Brigadier General Ahmed Getso conveyed his deep appreciation for the exceptional commitment and service demonstrated by the departing staff during their tenure at AWCN. He commended their steadfast dedication, highlighting the significant role each individual played in advancing the mission and standards of the institution.

Speaking on behalf of the departing Corps members, Miss Eneji Hadiza Oyiza, expressed gratitude for the enriching experiences and professional growth gained during their time at the College. She pledged to uphold the values instilled in them and to continue making meaningful contributions in their future endeavors.

The military personnel honored during the ceremony included Brigadier General RO Agbi, MWO Olaosebikan Olayemi, Cpl Linda Oguma, and Cpl Bamidele Seaun. Additionally, the contributions of five Corps members – Eneji Hadiza Oyiza, Fasasi Yewande Khadijah, Theman Esther, Josakweker Ogochukwu Cleapatra, and Abigal Pretty Ibrahim – were celebrated for their dedicated service at College.

The highlight of the event was a symbolic presentation of farewell gifts to each departing staff member, reflecting the institution’s appreciation for their service.
