The Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) on Thursday, 14 August 2025, held a colourful decoration ceremony in honour of two of its officers recently promoted to the rank of Captain. The event, which took place at the TYB Hall in Asokoro, Abuja, was marked by jubilation, honour, and solidarity.

The newly decorated officers, Captain Naomi Azara Nimfas and Captain Moyosore Acheyi Ogoh, earned their elevation from the rank of Lieutenant in recognition of their outstanding service and professional excellence. The ceremony drew a distinguished audience, including senior military officers, faculty members, colleagues, family, and well-wishers, all gathered to celebrate the significant milestone in the officers’ careers.

In his address, the Commandant of AWCN, Major General Umar Mohammed Alkali, commended the officers for their dedication and hard work, describing their commitment as “highly commendable.” He reminded them that building the College is a collective responsibility, urging them to apply the knowledge they have gained and to continue serving as exemplary ambassadors of the institution.

The event also featured inspiring words of advice from Directors and faculty members, reinforcing the College’s ethos of leadership development. “We shape minds that make the nation stable,” one faculty member remarked, underscoring AWCN’s central role in grooming leaders for national security.

In addition to the decoration, the ceremony served as a farewell for departing personnel and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who had served at the College. Gift items were presented to the departing members as tokens of appreciation for their contributions.

The occasion concluded with a group photograph and light refreshments, leaving participants with a feeling of honour and collective accomplishment.
