Army War College Nigeria Visits Operation Safe Haven For Internal Security Study

The participants of Army War College Nigeria course 9/2025 have visited Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) for internal security study to enhance their learning in the college.

Welcoming the participants to OPSH Joint Operations Area today 25 March 2025, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, said the study tour was crucial in enhancing the operational capabilities of the participants. Represented by the Chief of Staff OPSH, Brigadier General MO Agi, the Commander described the theme of the study tour which is “Coordination in Multi-Agency Operations: Lessons and Innovations for Nigeria’s Security Landscape” as timely and critical to Nigeria’s evolving security landscape.

General Oyinlola maintained that effective multi-agency coordination enhances operational efficiency, fosters mutual trust, and delivers better security outcomes, which must be accompanied with strong leadership and mutual respect among agencies working to achieve the operation’s mandates. The Commander encouraged the participants to actively engage various agencies they would be visiting in the course of the study tour in order to harness valuable lessons that could inform future strategic decision making.

In his remarks, the Commandant Army War College Nigeria, Major General UM Alkali, said the participants are trained as strategic leaders to fill in the gap where necessary. The Commandant further described the theme of the study tour as appropriate for Plateau state, owing to its security complexities.

General Alkali urged the participants to subject the operational brief received to critical thinking so as to come up with better ideas in tackling challenges limiting the conduct of operations in military formations.

Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the participants, Colonel EM Akale, thanked Operation SAFE HAVEN for the robust operational brief highlighting the importance of multi-agency operations. He further stated, that the internal security study tour will boost operational efficiency of participants in their respective services.

The team comprising of 10 faculty members, 62 participants, and 14 support staff would be visiting sister agencies in Plateau State during the 3-day study tour.

Highlights of the visit include, Inspection of quarter guard, presentation of brief, presentation of souvenirs, signing of visitors’ book and group photograph
