Army War College Participants Tour Key Military Establishments In Abuja

The participants of Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) Course 9/2025 have conducted a strategic tour of key military establishments within Abuja. The tour, held from March 4–5, 2025, as part of Module 2, National Security and Organisation of Defence, was designed to deepen their understanding of Nigeria’s defence architecture.

The participants visited Defence Headquarters, Army Headquarters, Naval Headquarters, and Air Force Headquarters. They also toured the Defence Space Agency, Defence Research and Development Bureau, and the Defence Intelligence Agency. The engagements provided insight into the operational structure, roles, and contributions of these organizations in national security and defence policy implementation.

The Commandant AWCN, Major General Umar Mohammed Alkali, who led the delegation, emphasized the importance of the tour in equipping participants with a broader perspective on Nigeria’s defence management.

“This visit enhances the participants’ understanding of the strategic roles played by these defence institutions. It also exposes them to ongoing efforts in achieving national defence objectives and their impact on the military dimension of national power,” he said.

General Alkali expressed gratitude for the warm reception extended to the delegation at each military establishment. He noted that the engagements would significantly enhance participants’ appreciation of inter-agency collaboration and defence strategy formulation.

The visit is part of AWCN’s ongoing efforts to develop strategic military leaders equipped with the knowledge and skills required to tackle contemporary security challenges.
