Bagudu Unveils Community-Focused Plan to Drive Growth and Stability
Nigeria’s Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to inclusive growth, regional stabilization, and transformative development at the 8th Board Steering Committee Meeting of the Regional Stabilization Facility (Nigeria Window), convened by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
In his address, Senator Bagudu commended the UNDP for providing a platform to assess progress, tackle challenges, and chart forward-looking strategies for sustainable development.
“I commend the UNDP for bringing us together for this important engagement. I also extend my gratitude to all development partners for their unwavering support, which remains central to achieving tangible impact across Nigeria’s strategic priorities,” he said.
Highlighting progress in livelihood restoration and Northeast stabilization, the Minister emphasized these efforts as key to peace, recovery, and opportunity. He also underscored the impact of macroeconomic reforms, which have strengthened revenue generation across federal, state, and local governments, enabling more effective planning and service delivery.
Senator Bagudu introduced the Renewed Hope Ward-Based Development Plan, an innovative initiative mapping all 8,809 wards to identify unique opportunities and challenges.
“This plan allows Nigeria to understand its resources and potentials, ensuring development interventions are deliberate, targeted, and sustainable,” he explained.
While recognizing the vital role of development partners, the Minister stressed Nigeria’s focus on derisking investments and creating an environment conducive to private sector participation and long-term financing.
“Our strategy is not solely dependent on external funding. We are unlocking infrastructure and economic opportunities that attract productive investments while building community resilience,” he said.
Senator Bagudu also highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s diplomatic efforts, noting that engagements with international partners are opening pathways for development projects and enhancing Nigeria’s visibility in global capital markets.
Concluding, the Minister reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to collaboration, partnership, and evidence-driven policymaking.
“Together with the UNDP and all our development partners, we are building a stronger, more resilient Nigeria—one that is stabilized, inclusive, and filled with opportunity for every community.”
