Bandits on Monday killed 5 vigilante members in Niger State.
Intelligence gathered that the criminals attacked a local market as well as some communities in the Shiroro Local Government Area of the state and gunned down the vigilante members during the operation.
San Kokki, the co-convener of the Concerned Shiroro Youth said the bandits also kidnapped an unspecified number of people while many others sustained multiple gunshot injuries.
The youth leader disclosed that the bandits had carried out multiple attacks on Beri, Beti-Kago, Gatawi, Kini, Bmada, and adjoining villages in Manta District on Sunday where the criminals also abducted some persons.
“They were seen running from across River Kaduna helter skelter, chasing whosoever is in their sight to abduct. Kokki, Shekadna, Karibo, Jabuki, Sarkin Zama, Bakin Kogi (Lagbe), Maganda and other adjoining villages, all in Gurmana District, came under renewed simultaneous attacks this morning.”
“Our current sad reality is that there is no longer semblance of security in the whole of Lakpma axis of Shiroro local government,” Kokki said.
