Be Advocates Of Peaceful Coexistence For Sustainable Economic Development – GOC Charges Stakeholders In Plateau State

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola has charged the stakeholders from Riyom and Jos South Local Government Areas of Plateau State to be advocates of peaceful coexistence for sustainable economic development.

The GOC gave the charge at the stakeholders engagement organized for the people of Riyom and Jos South local government areas as part of the ongoing decentralized stakeholders engagement across various sectors of Operation ENDURING PEACE Joint Operations Area. He noted that the engagement was a strategic necessity in the collective quest for sustainable peace, security and economic development of the State. Stressing that the gathering would provide the opportunity to re-examine the successes achieved during the last yuletide season and jointly work out practical modalities for effective preparation towards the actualization of peaceful farming season.

Major General Oyinlola recalled that the decline in violent incidents within the area in the past months was not by chance but as a result of sustained dialogue, deliberate conflict mitigation efforts, community cooperation, and a collective resolve to set aside differences for the greater good of the people. He also assured the stakeholders that the Defence and Army Headquarters have made deliberate and proactive efforts in ameliorating their plight by providing fertilizers for the farmers and deployment of a Special Forces Battalion to enhance the security of lives and properties.

Speaking also at the engagement, the Chairmen of Riyom and Jos South local government areas, Honourable Sati Bature Shuwa and Silas Patrick Dung in their seperate remarks, extolled the leadership of the Defence and Army Headquarters for their unwavering commitment to peace, harmonious coexistence and immeasurable support to the farmers. They urged the stakeholders to support the efforts of the military by taking the message from the engagement to their subjects across various communities. The stakeholders at the event, further appreciated the GOC for providing the platform to bring them together and pledged to work for sustainable peace.

Highlights of the event were the remarkable and fruitful interactive session as well as the distribution of fertilizers to stakeholders amongst others.
