Be Committed in Service to Humanity, Magu Charges Corps Members

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has advised Nigerian youth to be more concerned about how their actions will impact humanity than the focus on monetary rewards.

Magu gave the charge in a lecture delivered on his behalf by the Ibadan Zonal Head of the Commission, Friday Ebelo at the Oyo State’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp, Iseyin to the 2019 Batch A corps members. The lecture dwelt on the need for the youth to be fully committed to the service of humanity.

“Always put service first, money will come later. Some of our youth who are desperate to make quick money are the ones causing embarrassment to us at the international level.

“We have smart youth who are doing well through their creative minds and hard work, but criminal activities of a few bad ones still rob off on our image as a people. I want to implore you to be consistent in serving humanity. The reward is not just in Heaven, at the long run, it pays handsomely and honourably,” Magu admonished.

The EFCC boss warned the corps members to resist the temptation and pressure to go into crime, saying it ultimately brings shame and regrets.

While encouraging them to enlist in the NYSC anti-corruption group to help in the fight against corruption, Magu noted that their involvement in such activities will better prepare them for the challenges ahead.

The state coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Olufunke Ambekemo, received the EFCC team at the camp.
