Be Courageous, Exhibit Exemplary Character — Commander Corps Of Artillery
The Commander Corps of Artillery(CCA), Major General Markus Kangye has charged Commanders of 6 Division affiliated formations and units to be courageous and exihibit exemplary character, while discharging their constitutional responsibilities in the defence of fatherland. He gave the charge during his maiden visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division Nigerian Army/Land Component Commnader, Joint Task Force, Operation DELTA SAFE, Major General Jamal Abdussalam at the Divisions’ Headquarters in Port Harcourt.
The CCA reiterated that this is necessary to emplace the requisite capacity in accomplishing assigned tasks. He further said, on assumption of command at the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery(NACA), Kontagora, he deemed it necessary to embark on tour of all Artillery formations and units in order to get first hand information on their activities. This he said is necessary to actualise the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
He eulogized the GOC for the leadership he has provided to the Division, stating that although 343 Artillery Regiment falls under 82 Division administratively, operationally, it is affiliated to 6 Division and the GOC supported the regiment tremendously. Hence, the visit to appreciate the GOC, whom he said has been very supportive to 343 Artillery Regiment.
Major General Kangye further urged officers and soldiers of the Division to be courageous in addressing the challenges in the Niger Delta region. He also used the medium to express his appreciation to the GOC for the reception accorded him and his team.
While welcoming the CCA to 6 Division, the GOC described him as a thorough breed professional senior officer, who is a reservoir of knowledge and always willing to share with his subordinates. He used the medium to formally congratulate him on his appointment as the new CCA. He further said that he was particularly delighted that he visited the Division as part of his nationwide familiarization tour.
Among the CCA’s entourage were the Commander 34 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General UA Lawal, Acting Deputy Chief of Staff, Training and Operations, Headquarters, NACA, Lt Col KI Babakura, Commanding Officer 343 Artillery Regiment, Lt Col EA Kaan as well as Commanding Officer, Medical Inspection Room, NACA, Lt Col FM Okolo amongst others.
