Be Humble, Fair and Firm – Major General AB Mohammed Charges As NMS Commandant Decorates Deputy With New Rank

The newly promoted Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Military School (NMS), Zaria, Colonel CB Obida, has been charged to remain humble, fair, and firm as he begins his journey into the rank of being general. The charge was given by the Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Major General AB Mohammed, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the decoration ceremony held at the NMS Officers Mess on 12 December 2025.

Major General Mohammed described the promotion as divinely ordained, noting that it was the will of God that the officer be celebrated at this time. He urged the newly promoted senior officer to remain steadfast in faith, humility, fairness, and firmness in leadership, stressing that discipline, character, and reliance on God remain critical as responsibilities increase with higher rank.

Earlier, the Commandant of the Nigerian Military School, Brigadier General Owoicho Ejiga, congratulated the officer on his well-deserved promotion, stating that he was not surprised by the elevation. According to him, the newly promoted Deputy Commandant had consistently demonstrated exceptional professionalism, discipline, sound carriage, and dedication to duty, qualities which made him worthy of the new rank.

In his vote of thanks, the Deputy Commandant, Colonel CB Obida, expressed profound gratitude to God for the privilege of witnessing the occasion. He specifically thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu and Army Council for finding him worthy of the promotion and expressed deep appreciation to the Special Guest of Honour for honouring the event despite his tight schedule. He also acknowledged the Commandant of NMS for years of mentorship, guidance, and leadership.

Colonel Obida further thanked his family for their unwavering support and prayers for his career, reaffirming his commitment to continued loyalty, professionalism, and service to the Nigerian Military School, and the Nigerian Army.
