Beyonce Confirms She’s Joining the Remake of The Lion King

Beyonce shut the damn internet down when she took to her social media to confirm that she will be joining the live-action remake of Disney’s The Lion King.

Recall that the producers have been fighting to get the legendary singer to star as Nala, and for many months, people were unsure if the singer would accept the deal. And last night, when they posted the collage of the full cast, which also includes major acts like Donald Glover (the rapper Childish Gambino), James Earl Jones and Alfre Woodard, everyone lost their entire cool and took to their various platforms to celebrate.

Others stars in the cast include Nigeria’s Chiwetel Ejiofor (who will play Scar), John Oliver, and Seth Rogen.

The film, which is directed by Jon Favreau, reportedly will be giving us a “new take” on the classic story of the lions of Pride Rock, and CNN adds that it will feature “pioneering filmmaking techniques”.

The Lion King is among several live action reboots of Disney animated classics. Others include box office hits like, Cinderella, The Jungle Book (also directed by Favreau), and most recently, Beauty and the Beast, which has already raked in a whopping $1.2 billion worldwide.

For The Lion King, it already made $968 million at the global box office and birthed a successful Broadway show.

Reacting to the awesome news of the cast, Frozen star Josh Gad tweeted, “I’m trying to shove dollar bills into the phone. Just take my money now.”

Meanwhile the ever loyal Beyhive also shared their own excitement at the return of their queen.
