#BlackSooth: Port Harcourt Residents Cry Out over Health Hazard Caused by Air Pollution
Residents of Port Harcourt, and concerned Nigerians, are using the hashtag #BlackSooth to bring attention to the disturbing health hazard posed by the dark cloud depositing black sooth all over the city.
Yesterday, a worried mum shared a video of the film of black which had accumulated on her baby’s sleeping net, a reality many residents are dealing with.
“To whom is behind the black sooth in Port Harcourt, [I’m] speaking up against toxic killing of us and our children,” she cautioned the disturbing video.

Another Twitter user, also shared a photo of the film of black she wiped off her window, showing how thickly the sooth gathers in the space of hours, driving the point home on how much they inhale everyday.

Writing on his Twitter, a resident shared a screenshot of former Minister of Environment, Amina J Mohammed’s promise that the result of test carried out by experts would be made available by the end of the month, but she made no mention of how residents should handle or protect themselves from this pollution until the result comes out.
